Today’s mail call brings us a pocket tool collaboration between Rexford Knives and Triple Aught Design. The Rexford R.U.T. (Rexford Utility Tool) is a pretty cool piece of gear on its own, but the TAD edition adds a few finishing touches, such as a topographical design, a small TAD logo, and chamfered edges.
So… is it a blade, bottle opener, or pry bar / flathead screwdriver? Answer: It is all of the above! FYI: The RUT accepts standard utility blades that can be found at nearly any hardware or big box store. This makes replacing a dull blade a breeze.
Specs (from TAD site):
- Stonewashed 6AL4V Titanium.
- Length: 3.50″ (8.89 cm)
- Width: 0.94″ (2.39 cm)
- Thickness: 0.19″ (0.48 cm)
- Made in USA
These RUTs typically sell out very quickly (despite the price) so if you are considering one, be sure to keep your eyes open. In addition to the Triple Aught Design edition, there are others sold directly by Rexford Knives and from authorized dealers.
Here’s another shot, showing the size comparison between the RUT and a couple of other popular tools — the Gerber EAB (top), Rexford RUT (middle), and Gerber Shard (bottom).
